How to perform plumbing installations

Plumbing installation: how does it work?

The plumbing system works on the simple concept of "water in - water out". In a new home, the plumbing consists of three main components, the water supply system, the drainage system, and the appliance / sanitary set. In most communities, to install plumbing, you need to work with a qualified plumber who approves and oversees your work. Local codes determine plumbing procedures, but the placement of equipment in a new home.

When should you install

The setting of the sections of the sewer housing, that is the point where the sewer line of the house connects to the municipal sewer system, marks the beginning of the plumbing installations. This happens before the concrete foundation is poured.

Plumbing systems

Because they are often too large to attach once the walls and doors are framed, tubs and tub/shower units are typically set up before framing the walls. As a lot of work has yet to be done, cover these fixtures with cardboard or even old blankets or rugs to protect them from scratches. Set up and connect sinks and dressers last, after finishing the walls and laying the floor.

Setting up large plumbing

Plumbing fixtures such as showers and bathtubs are often too large to install once the doors and walls are framed. Any fixtures larger than the sinks generally get set up before the walls are framed.

Water supply system

Pressurized water supply enters the house through a mainline. It must be set below the frost line, below the depth at which groundwater freezes, to prevent the line from freezing and damaging the pipes.

Once the mainline has entered the house, it is split into two lines. One provides cold water while the other connects to the hot water system. From there, each appliance or appliance is supplied with hot and cold water.

Drainage system

The drainage system consists of the main vent and ground chimney - already mentioned - and the drains that connect to it. The chimney directs waste to the main sewer drain, which exits the house below the frost line. From there it can connect to the municipal sewer system or reach a personal septic tank.

Vent pipes

If you've ever tried to overturn a bottle of liquid by holding it upright, you'll know why vent hoses are essential. A constant source of air prevents water blockages from forming in the drain pipes, which can cause blockages. Most appliances and appliances can share a common vent as long as they are connected within 10 feet of each other. If not, a separate vent pipe must be installed. All vent pipes generally connect to the chimney, allowing ventilation through the main chimney vent.

Without a constant source of air, water locks can form in the drain pipes, causing blockages. All drains require ventilation, but a single vent, usually installed behind a sink, can serve additional devices and appliances that connect within 10 feet of a common drain line. The vent pipes, which are typically 2 inches in diameter, connect to the vent and ground stack in the attic. When a fixture is located too far from a common vent, it requires an additional vent pipe, which connects to the stack or exits the roof separately, depending on the layout of the house.
